The article examines the key findings of the World Economic Forum’s “Global Risks Report 2026” and explores how geopolitical, economic, social, technological and environmental risks are increasingly interconnected. It focuses on geoeconomic confrontation as a leading short-term risk, alongside rising economic instability, inequality, misinformation and disinformation. The article also considers the growing long-term significance of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, particularly in relation to the concentration of power and emerging inequalities. While environmental risks appear less prominent in the short term, the article highlights their continued and increasing importance over the longer term. By examining how governments, businesses and individuals respond to prolonged uncertainty, the article questions whether the world is moving from preventing crises toward simply managing them.
