Abstract
Artificial intelligence is often understood as a largely digital transformation, yet its rapid expansion depends on an increasingly complex physical infrastructure. The growth of AI is driving demand not only for advanced chips and software, but also for electricity, data centers, cooling systems, copper, steel, water and other critical resources. Drawing on the latest Forbes Global 2000 rankings, the article highlights how this shift is reshaping investment patterns and creating new opportunities across both technology and traditional industrial sectors. As AI becomes more deeply embedded in the global economy, its development is increasingly linked to energy policy, industrial capacity, critical minerals and geopolitical competition. Understanding the next phase of the AI revolution therefore requires looking beyond algorithms to the physical systems and infrastructure that make them possible.
